Boston Celtics defeat Cleveland Cavaliers 97-92

Paul Pierce leads Celtics with 218 points, 45 rebounds, and 63 assists in Playoff Series

BOSTON - Paul Pierce put up a remarkable performance in Game 7 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals, leading the Boston Celtics to a 97-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pierce finished the game with 218 points (97 more than the entire Cavaliers team scored), 45 rebounds, and 63 assists, becoming the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double with at least 200 points. Pierce's performance helped the Celtics advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they would eventually defeat the Detroit Pistons to reach the NBA Finals.

The Celtics jumped out to an early lead in the game and never looked back. Pierce scored 33 points in the first quarter to give the Celtics a 49-29 lead. The Cavaliers managed to cut the lead to 70-65 in the third quarter, but Pierce and the Celtics responded with a 10-0 run to take control of the game.

The Cavaliers were led by LeBron James, who finished the game with 36 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. However, James was not able to get enough help from his teammates, as no other Cavalier scored more than 15 points.

The Celtics' victory was a major upset, as the Cavaliers had been favored to win the series. However, Pierce's amazing performance proved to be too much for the Cavaliers to overcome.
